The Second Angel's Message

In our previous article I took a glance at the "first Angel's message" of Revelation 14:6-10. I showed how this first message is extremely important to Adventist Christians.

Here again is the first angel's message;

Rev.14: 6: "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7: Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

In this first angels message we noticed two important issues; "the hour of his judgment has come" and we are told to "worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of the waters."

We showed how this first angel's message points to the importance of the Sabbath.

… “and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea…” Notice that this phrase is a copy of what we find in the fourth commandment:

“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy… for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hollowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11.

We also pointed out that this angel speaks of "the hour of his judgment". The New Testament tells us that God "hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge..." [Acts 17:31] As Adventist Christians we know that this "day" began at the end of the 2300 day (year) prophecy spoken of by Daniel the prophet. So now let us look at the "Second Angel's Message" found in Revelation ch.14:8;

"Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." Revelation 14:8.

We understand that this Babylon comprises fallen apostate Christendom. Her [the false church] "fornication" is her false teachings. God's people are viewed in Revelation chapter twelve as the "pure women", Christ's "bride". The fallen churches represent the false bride, or the "harlot".

This false bride is cheating on Christ, mixing Babylonian doctrines with the Truth of God's word such as the immortality of the soul. This false church also upholds the spurious Sabbath proclaimed by the Roman Beast.

This second angel’s message is magnified by Revelation ch.18…….

Revelation 18: 1-4–”I saw another angel come down from heaven…And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen. …And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people.” The angel says, “Babylon is fallen,” and urges everyone to come out of her.

Early Adventist, Ellen White has stated that the first and second angel's messages were fulfilled through the Millerite movement.

"The advent movement of 1840-44 was a glorious manifestation of the power of God; the first angel's message was carried to every missionary station in the world, and in some countries there was the greatest religious interest which has been witnessed in any land since the Reformation of the sixteenth century." Ellen G. White, Great Controversy, p. 611.

"Prophecy was fulfilled in the first and second angels' messages. They were given at the right time and accomplished the work which God designed to accomplish by them." Ellen G. White, Early Writings, p. 245.

Today God is still proclaiming the second angel's message through the Seventh Day Adventist Church. God is calling His people out of false religion.

Long ago God foretold of a people that would be His “special property“, and that other people around them would certainly see that ”They will be mine,” says the LORD Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.” [Malachi 3:17,18]

Is there a “distinction” between Christians and the world? There should be! Christians will follow the Law’s that Jesus Christ taught us. They will reject this Satanic World and it’s way.

It is not enough to merely recognize the difference between God’s way and the ways of this world. True Christianity is a lifestyle! True Christianity is not mere “lip service“. How many Christian friends [brothers & sisters] do you have? We are to associate with God’s people, His “remnant“. We are not to be “unequally yoked“.

“Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” [2 Corinthians 6:17]

Dear fellow Christians, it is by taking a firm stand for the truth that one can really make a lasting example for lost family members and friends. God firmly assures you that He will support and strengthen you if you put Him and His ways first in your life.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” [Romans 8:38,39]

Remember, we as Christians are to assemble with those who worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth, they keep His commandments, and have the faith of Jesus Christ.Will you not come out of Babylon and into God’s remnant church today?
